the fall closet essentials you need. (colder climates)

~ Not sponsored ~

Today we're gonna be talking about my fall closet essentials, aka what I can't live without this fall, the pieces I've been wearing non stop. These are all very versatile and stylish, yet also effortless enough to upgrade your closet for the transitional season ahead :).

Jacket: C&A // Pants: Forever 21 // Sweater: H&M // Boots: Forever 21

patent leather boots
Fall style is all about being edgy and letting your inner soft-goth run wild (at least a little bit), and what's better to instantly get that attitude than a pair of chunky, patent leather boots? The chunkier the heel, the better! Add these to any outfit to give it an edge and some toughness. It's especially fun if you combine these more hardcore-ish boots with a more feminine outfit (a flowy dress for example) to add a little bit of contrast to your OOTD. You can also look out for different kinds of leather, to completely change the vibe of the boots. Matt leather looks classier, while glossy (patent) leather doubles down on the edgy vibes.

chunky knit sweaters
These are a fall classic, and that means you should at least own five of them, in different colors and styles. A good knit sweater is just so easy to style, they go with basically anything. Throw one onto some jeans for a more casual look, or with some patterned pants and heels for a more dressed up version. Fall styling is all about versatility, and chunky knit sweaters are just that! There's hundreds of looks using knit sweaters online, so there's tons of inspo out there! Look at places like H&M for affordable ones that are surprisingly good quality.

patterned pants
These have been everywhere lately, and for good reason! They instantly give every outfit a few more fashion points, whether you style them with a more simple top or go for clashing patterns. Prints like snakeskin, houndstooth and plaid have been especially trending lately, but you can also go for more classic options like polka dots or stripes. Basically just try to have some more fun with your pants, it instantly adds some flair to your outfits.

a sheer turtle neck
This is honestly my favorite piece at the moment, even though it's so simple. The possibilities are just endless with this one! I love using mine for layering under shirts or sweaters, or even over crop tops (or on its own ofc). I don't know why, but it just adds a lot of originality to every outfit, like you thought about it. If you want to play around with this you can also get sheer tops with patterns or other versions of thin sweaters and have some fun with layering. It's both functional and fashionable at the same time :).

band t-shirts
Another classic, continuing with the edgy-for-fall vibes ofc. These are also very simple, basic pieces that are super versatile, especially when it comes to layering (which is a fall STAPLE when you live in a colder climate, like me). For example: you can wear a striped tee under a short-sleeved band tee, you can wear a band tee on its own or you can pair it with a cardigan or vest. It's effortless af, and will always look polished.

a corduroy jacket
Or any other "medium warmth" jackets. Aka as those jackets that aren't exactly as heavy as your winter coat, but are still not too cold either. The perfect fall jacket. Corduroy jackets like the one pictured above are perfect for this, as they give of the perfect dose of cosy and vintage vibes. I actually already wore mine so much, mostly as a jacket to just throw on for when I'm in between places or outside for a bit. It's cosy enough to keep me warm while cycling to school, but not too heavy so it's not impractical.

And that was it for this blogpost! I hope you enjoyed and I'll see you next week! If you wanna see these pieces in action you can follow me on Instagram (@thedutchbloggergirl) :).
