reviewing MET gala fashion!

~ Not sponsored, but if you're interested in sponsoring a post, hit me up ;) ~

Today we're going to be discussing this week's most exclusive, fashion / gala / celebrity event. I'm talking about the MET Gala of course! The event is known for outrageous themes, starstruck red carpet and dreamy gowns and today we're gonna take a look at my faves, my meh's and my oh god no's. Let's dive into it!

This year's theme was; "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination"

the amazing.
Blake Lively in Versace

While Blake's dress isn't the most Catholic thing ever, it's excused because she looks like a queen. I love the long skirt, I love the intricate beading on the bodice, I love the way this color looks on her, I love the slit. Everything about this dress is amazingly flattering and looks good on her. The crown wasn't necessary, but it doesn't bother me either. She looks like some kind of fantasy queen, and I'm here for it. Blake slayed the game. 10/10. Amazing.

Zendaya in Versace

I don't care what anybody says... Zendaya's outfit was the best outfit from the entire MET gala. She's slaying and giving up major Joan of Arc vibes. The dress is beautifully done, combining costume with fashion and design, and is amazingly flattering. Everything about this dress is just amazing, from the drapery in the front to the sleeves and the skirt, everything looks gorgeous. I live and die for this look.

Stella Maxwell in Moschino

I love love love love the idea of this dress! The beading looks regal and majestic, and even with a bunch of Holy Mary's plastered all over the dress isn't too much. I would even dare say that this was one of the night's subtler, yet still on-theme looks. The only small criticism I have is that the waist could've been accented a little more to really give of that killer hourglass vibe, and maybe a small necklace could've been added to the look.

SZA in Atelier Versace

Everything about this is amazing: the halo looks great, the color of the dress is amazing with SZA's skin tone, the makeup is on point and the dress is amazingly dramatic (the detail work is amazing as well! The beading on the bodice looks very well done!)

the meh.
Kim Kardashian in Versace

Kim, you look amazing, but you could've followed the theme more. Don't get me wrong, your dress is STUNNING and you bod is banging', but I had hoped for a little more. This is a solid 8, but next time I expect at least a 9. Just slapping' some crosses on a pretty basic, but stunning, dress isn't gonna suffice next year.

Kylie Jenner (& Travis Scott) in custom Alexander Wang

I love you Kylie, but I have something against this look. It's pretty uninspired and unflattering (the strapless top doesn't fit well at the armpits, and the shape of the cutout creates the illusion of a bigger waist). Another big thing is that this doesn't follow the theme AT ALL. Why would you wear a simple black dress when now's your chance to go all out?? Even last year's MET gala look would've fit the theme much better.

Emilia Clarke in Dolce & Gabbana

Dear Emilia, your dress is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. I love it, 10/10. However, the hair and makeup could've been better. I like the idea of the blush, but it makes your eyes look a bit small, maybe it would've been better without the red lipstick. Your dress is perfect though, so that makes up for it. It definitely gives of heavenly / regal vibes. I love the gold detail work and the way it contrasts with the black of the dress. The dress looks very flattering as well, it makes you look amazingly thin.

the oh god no.
Cara Delevigne in Dior Haute Couture

I'm not the biggest fan of this dress, I love the idea, but I think it could've been executed a little better. The thing I really have an issue with is the headpiece; it warps Cara's face and makes it all weird. The makeup is terrible as well. Overall the dress gets a yes, but the makeup and headpiece ruin the look.

Shailene Woodley in Ralph Lauren

I'm sorry Shailene, but the theme was NOT space robot pirate... Besides that, the look is not great... the dress isn't flattering, and the fabric looks cheap. However, I think this could've been saved with a different hairstyle and different shoes. For now this falls flat though.

Anyways, that was it for this post! What was your fave look of the night? Do you agree with my opinions? See ya next week!
